get ready to race
Huntsville, Alabama, located in the southern United States, is excited to host the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup, May 26-29, 2023 in concert with the U.S. Paralympics Cycling and Medalist Sports!
This is the first Para-cycling Road World Cup to ever be held in our country and is expected to bring in 300+ athletes with their support teams and families. Our community looks forward to hosting you in the beautiful, exciting Rocket City!
Individual Time Trials
On Friday and Saturday, May 26-27, athletes will compete in Time Trials. In these races, individual cyclists are sent out at intervals to cover a specified distance on a road course. It's a race against the clock -- the athlete with the fastest time for the distance wins.
Road Races
On Sunday and Monday, May 28-29, you'll see athletes competing in Road Races. In these events, athletes begin with a mass start and then they battle both the elements and each other in races to see who can cross the finish line first. You'll see packs of riders and the competition is intense!
Handcycle Relay
On Monday, May 29, teams will compete in a Handcycle Relay. Each team has four athletes, often a combination of male and female cyclists. The first one races around the course, then tags the next cyclist, who races and tags the next cyclist until all have completed the course. The first team to finish wins the race.
